Doctorates from the Competence Center Information Systems

11. December 2023.

In the current and previous year, the Competence Center Information Systems (CCWI) successfully completed three doctorates in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The work of the newly graduated Dr. Eshref Januzaj, Dr. Max-Emanuel Keller and Dr. Martin Häusl was carried out in collaboration with the Research Institute for Applications of Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems (IAMLIS) and the university partners Technische Universität Dresden and Universität Regensburg.

In his work "Density-based distributed clustering", Dr. Eshref Januzaj investigated the challenges of analyzing large amounts of data in a networked society. He developed three algorithms (DBDC, EKM and SDBDC) for distributed data mining, in particular clustering, in order to circumvent the problem of centralized data storage.

Dr. Max-Emanuel Keller dedicated his doctoral thesis entitled "Predicting updates on social media platforms" to the efficient collection of social media data. His approach focused on identifying suitable times for retrieving feeds on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter in order to capture new posts in a timely manner.

The work of Dr. Martin Häusl, entitled "Social Semantic Product Idea Mining - Conception and Evaluation", addresses the limitations of conventional innovation processes. His innovative approach integrates social web data, semantic technologies and a generic data model to improve the idea generation and innovation capabilities of companies.

Congratulations to the newly graduated scientists Dr. Eshref Januzaj, Dr. Max-Emanuel Keller and Dr. Martin Häusl and thanks to the university partners and reviewers for their support with these groundbreaking research contributions.
