IGARSS 2023

The "International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS)" took place for the 43rd time this year. The destination of the conference this time was Pasadena, California ???? where the sun shines 300 days a year!

Pasadena is only 11 miles or just under 18 km from Los Angeles and is located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains in the San Gabriel Valley, and is also known as the "Crown of the Valley".

Sarah Hauser presented the Forest5Dplus research project there on Thursday. The focus was on applied data fusion of the two remote sensing sensors, Sentinel-1 - and Sentinel-2, with the addition of labels obtained from LiDAR data with various tree parameters. At IGARSS, the regression and prediction results were presented and discussed.

Besides the conference, there was also time for some small excursions like to the Griffith Observatory which offers a view of the whole region between downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
